The Mosaic Workshop Creative Program, in the context of Museum and Archaeological Site, aims to allow the experience of Mosaic art and a deeper understanding of its aesthetic and cultural value, both in the Roman period and in other historical periods.
The program includes different theoretical and practical topics, connecting several disciplinary areas – History of Art, Aesthetics, Fine Arts and Architecture, among others.
Aimed at different audiences, the program integrates various learning and experience formats, in order to provide the discovery of Mosaic art to all interested parties – from short workshop to training over several months.
Headquartered at the Conímbriga Monographic Museum – National Museum, an important center for study, research and preservation of the Roman Mosaic, the Workshop Program takes place in the Museum’s own spaces and benefits from the possibility of in situ observation of mosaic works Roman heritage of renowned heritage, through guided tours.

The Occasional Mosaic Workshops format makes it possible to attend a 3 hour session per week during each week of each month, choosing the day and time from the following options:

Monthly course (non-formal education) with 4 sessions 3 hour sessions over a month. (Participants can sign up for more than a month and continue their training).

In these courses, the creative experience of “Mosaic making” includes the contribution of knowledge in disciplinary areas such as Drawing or Composition, among others in the field of Fine Arts.
Mosaic creative workshops provide all available materials and the tools and means appropriate to the “Mosaic”, according to the themes of study and creative personal research.
Monthly cost: 60 Euros (it includes all means and materials necessary for the creative program to be fulfilled in the various Workshops.
The Mosaic Workshop Program is coordinated by Humberto Figueiredo (PhD in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid), Coordinator of the “Mosaico – Conímbriga and Sicó” project (CREATOUR pilot project), in collaboration with the Monographic Museum of Conímbriga – National museum.
